Flipboard: The Social Magazine App Reviews

Unbelievably horrible

At one time, this was my favorite app. Back then, I didnt need an account, and I could freely search for anything and the search function seemed to never fail to find what I was looking for. Now you MUST select 5 topics from a list of THEIR choosing, and its then and only then that they tell you that you cant even access that much without establishing an account. I deleted it again.

Irritating

The concept is brilliant. I once enjoyed Flipboard immensely but the app is so full of ads it is now maddening. It is no longer worth bothering with.

I have to sign in to read Flipboard?? No Thanks

So I opened Flipboard to give the new version one more try. I spent about 10 minutes going thru all my interests. I finally finish and now I have to sign in to read my magazine?? Why oh why can I not read the news and be anonymous? Why does everyone want to track everyone? No thanks. Miss Zite big time. I have been a Zite user since day one and I am so disappointed in Zite being sold and subsequently shut down, it should have been the other way around, kill Flipboard and bring back Zite. I have also owned flipboard from the day it was featured in Apples keynote with Steve Jobs. While I have used flipboard a few times it was inferior to Zites elegance and its ability to figure out exactly what my interests are. Flipboard on the other hand shows me the same articles over and over even though I already read them. Some articles are days and weeks old. I am now looking at news360 and Apples News as viable alternatives. There is no way flipboard can take the place of Zite. RIP Zite

Bring back Zite

Long time Zite user and sad to see it gone, after giving this app a try I am deleting it as it is not even 1/3 as user friendly or as useful as Zite was

Not as good as Zite

Despite the claims that they have integrated Zite the stories I get are just not as good. I also can find no way to retweet a simple tweet (one that doesnt link to a webpage). I used to be able to do that. Reading Twitter was really the main reason I use Flipboard. Otherwise I find myself turning to Apple News more and more.

Last update destroyed Flipboard for me

Ever since the latest update installed in my iPhone this app has totally stopped working for me. The news stories added to my magazine (which has been on Flipboard for quite some time) never get added to the Flipboard main magazines such as World News or the country magazine they are about. If I add new stories I used to get credit for it, but now my magazine is cut off from all others and my magazine name is never put up on the top banner where people get credit and their magazine mentioned by name, and so few people now see my magazine. Been a constant issue for me for 2 weeks now. When I contact Flipboard they took a week to answer and only with a very brief reply saying it may be a bug or a policy change. ??? Which is no answer at all. Why bother with them. Its a waste of time.

Nonsense

Dont waste your time, nothing but bias articles some are complete bull****. This app is a trolls paradise!!!!!!!!

Too many ads

While the interface is mediocre but usable, the thing I cant stand is being pummeled by ads. Ads in flipboard itself were annoying but tolerable, It seems most articles are click bait that push ads before you can see whether you want to read the article. Ultimately, Im going back to browser news sites. At least I can block ads and other annoyances there.

Flopboard is a flipping one trick pony.

I have really tried to like this app. The flipping page may seem neat at first but it soon becomes annoying and cumbersome. It is not all that good at presenting the news I want to see. It does not "learn" despite my input. Flipboard is just not as accurate at finding my content as other news readers. Of course there was the other app, beautifully efficient and accurate, that gave up its life for this mess. That app set the bar high. Those of us that used it know what is possible and what truly is (was) the better app. I am still scratching my head as to why a decision was made to acquire the Zite app, end it, and go with this app. Also I have to point out....this is another "update" with little to no change except for another flood of new questionable 5-star reviews. Is it possible to game the review system here???

Zite was better. This is all clickbait.

I miss Zite.

Crashes constantly

It frequently crashes on my iPad 2.

Flipboard > the rest

Not sure what all these recent reviews are down rating it so badly. I still love Flipboard and prefer it over Apples news app or any other similar ones.

Keeps crashing

I cant read an article for more than 30 seconds without jittery scrolling followed by a crash. Apparently it needs work.

Still the same...

Flipboard hasnt really done anything in years to make itself stand out. I would have thought after spending millions to acquire Zite they would be doing something different with their app by now. I Dont get it.

Battery hog

The application is very good in that it does what it purports to do. The adds are a little frequent; but dont ruin the product. I just wish they could change the factor that causes the application to consume so much of the battery.

Links in comments

You should block ppl from posting links in the comments. I dont think its safe. There didnt used to be links in the comments. All of a sudden there are links. And I believe they are either spam or malicious links.

One more thing...

I use this app as my primary news-tech-Instagram app. Nice job. I use this app nearly every time I use any of my iOS devices. The recent upgrade for the iPad is much better than the old (with which I had no problem). I love the lay-out & ease of use! What I do not care for are articles gleaned from the New York Times! After reading 10 articles in a months span, one is prompted to purchase a NYT subscription. If I wanted a subscription, I would read the NYT, not Flipboard! My suggestion: remove NYT articles!!
