I’ve had Flipboard for years. More and more I’ve noticed it’s leaning hard left on politics and related content that it’s curates. I mean a very hard left recently. They tell you that it gets better the more you use it, claiming you can curate your own content but that’s pretty much a lie.

In the past several months this app within 5-10 min of use heats up an iPhone 16 Pro like crazy. Even with the latest update of Apr 2. It obviously is from this app because after this app is fully closed, the phone cools down within minutes, every single time

Please fix the tinted icons widget. Have been really ready wanting tinted icons for my home screen but this widget is making me wait. BUT it’s been a while and a fix is overdue.

Love the app just wish it wasn’t ran by liberal extremists. I selected only conservative magazines but it rarely uses any but instead uses extremely liberal publications for my feed. It gets old fast. But if you are a leftist socialist this is the app for you.

Been using this app for as long as I remember, can’t use it anymore the so called boards that crash every time I want to open one, it seems the developers are aware but not really interested to fix it because it has been roughly more than six months. More and more paywalls as well, overall a fun app that could have been great but is just another app among others.

Every single news story has multiple pop-up ads that block the story until you delete them. At least half of the ‘articles’ are actually advertisements made to look like real news stories. Flipboard lost sight of being a news site long ago when they realized they could monetize it. Now it is just an annoying pop-up commercial advertising app. Less than 25% of its content is real news. STAY AWAY!!

This app continues to amaze me at how poor are the algorithms they use. I told them I don’t want obituaries but still get them. When I ask to see less of a post, the algorithm usually lists non-reasons for why I downgraded the post. I live in the Midwest but it seems obsessed with sending me local news from Pennsylvania and New Mexico. If I downgrade something I seem to get more of it, like soccer and Australian rugby. I want news I want not what the “enthusiasts” want.

Dark mode is a joke. Incredibly bright white lights between screens, even in open. Either support dark mode or don’t but done claim you do currently.

Use to like this platform until they began erasing censoring and banning comments that some nerd in an office didn’t like …. Embarrassing

The Cover Stories tile is not news. It’s 99 % , totally bias,leftist, liberal, opinion pieces from same 10-12 sources. There is no fair and balanced reporting here. If you are progressive liberal that likes to read fake news that makes you feel better, this is your home.

The app has been crashing over and over for the last year or so. I use it daily but not sure how much longer. Get it together devs, this app needs help

It is very clear that all the news in this editorial outlet is extremely biased. For the least several years, Trumps name is the most reported name in anything printed here. Can you just be unbiased and report the news and other happenings in the world?

I have been using this for almost a decade. Really good way to get news, curated content. Paid articles are a pain but I love that you can make your own magazines etc.

If you’re looking for a news aggregator coupled with a social media platform, this is the standard by which all others are judged. Being able to block news sources and limit certain topics does allow you a measure of control over the algorithm. You have to keep at it to prevent the app from including low quality but popular content. It shows you what you want to see and not necessarily what you should see. Quantity over quality is the hallmark of American news media. If you are unsure how to combat misinformation, try something like GroundNews.

Now there are way more articles which need a subscription to read or have a "privacy policy" requiring you to allow them to sell your data (or you cannot continue to read the article). There is usually 1 ad on each page but to also require subscriptions is ridiculous! Time to leave.

You are supposed to be able to tune the feed to your taste, but, after a few months, I found the app pretty much ignores your choices. Selecting topics and down-selecting sources did nothing, as far as I could see. Plus, as some other reviews pointed out, the app layers ads on top of what are in the source feeds. These ads crowd the screen, and cause the display to jump around as the new ads load. You can get around this issue, but it is a pain. Eventually, I gave up and uninstalled the app.

I’ve been using Flipboard for several years. Lately it seems to not be working correctly. I have not been able to flip articles for quite some time. When attempting to flip from the app, I get an error that the item is not public and not available to save. When trying to flip from my browser, it tells me I have no magazines. Still useful for reading news, but completely useless for saving content, which is one of the main reasons I like to use it.

The app doesn’t work and continuously crashes on my iPhone 7 with an up to date OS and latest app version. On my iPhone 6 running iOS 12 (the last version available for it) the app runs fine. On my iPhone 6S with the latest iOS and the latest app version it now runs fine after experiencing crashing like on my iPhone 7. Aside from that, a long time ago (over a year ago), when I would comment on an article I could view my comment history and return to the comments. Now there is no longer any comment history. Please fix the app or advise. Update: 4/8/20 A canned response from the developer telling me to update when I have already updated to the latest official iOS version isn’t helpful nor does it fix the problem. Don’t respond if you are simply going to insult our intelligence. Update: 3/18/25 After years of using this app I’ve now deleted it. It was unstable, I never got notifications, they’ve shadow banned my ability to comment and counter misinformation.

Have enjoyed Flipboard for many years but have found it to be very biased over the last few years as to what is presented to the audience. Starting to consider to looking for more unbiased sources to get multiple opposing views. My reading goal is information and education

Considering deleting and finding another app at this point. This problem has been going on for too long.

I’ve been using Flipboard forever and never gave a review. This is the premier app for news: not only does it cater to your echo chamber, but also provides contrasting sources and pieces resulting in an unbiased and rounded perspective on any pertinent news.

Way too many pop up ads in articles and too many sources with paywalls. If not for the “Web View” button at the top of most articles, the app would be completely unusable

This is a great presentation of the news. The only problem is that it is totally left wing, liberal. Picks articles to present their views - does not provide the Flip side on the Flip board

I started back when Flipboard first came out. It was limited but so were the commercials. It’s full of bugs and commercials every second. I decided to go back today to see what’s new with Flipboard. The lead story was glitchy and a commercial rifled mess.

The app is great when it's not bogged down from you flipping through a bunch of articles. The app heats up my phone and freezes often. Can we get a memory fix after all these years? I would love if this app didn't make my phone too hot to hold. Nothing else on my phone heats it up like Flipboard.

A lot of people are complaining about ads and subscriptions from sources. That’s not in FB’s control, their job is to find all these stories across the web and just gather them in one place for ease of reading or collecting. That being said, I’ve noticed a distinct trend towards right wing/sports/celebrity content and away from unbiased sources on more serious topics like science, finance, real politics, etc. Also, the app will heat up your phone like an oven and kill your battery with a quickness. Probably from all the data mining 🤣

Another new update and no fix for the crashing.

I hate the storyboards! Take them off and put regular links to articles instead.

Love the app, it’s my favorite one for news, entertainment, sports, etc. Been using it for years. However, lately it drains my phone battery faster than any other app on my phone. I can feel my phone heat up as I use it. Sometimes even if I have my phone plugged in and charging, I still see my battery percentage go down while using Flipboard. For that reason, I don’t use it nearly as much as I used to, which is a shame, because I really liked it.

Flipboard has become bias and slanted. Four to one articles favoring left. Obbessed with Trump and fail to understand majority of American not only voted for him but also still support his efforts as President. Watching the democrats sit on their hands confirms what you will ignore. Democrats have lost all reality Need I continue?

Using on iOS. All articles open on the home screen. But if I go to the magazines I follow or my own curated ones, tapping to open any of them will force code the app. And this has been going on for MONTHS. Stuck on Home Screen feed. No solution anywhere on net or any app updates.

All the links I clip require subscription to read article. As useless as apple news.

I rarely write reviews but felt I needed to because its disgraceful. They have ban comments for users that go against Democrats. U need proof?? Look for the article “Trump-Zelensky summit Explodes 🔥”… you wont find a one single comment praising Trump o critical or Zelensky. Its unbelievable what this App doing for Freedom of speech. Time to remove it and #boycottFlipboard

I’ve been using Flipboard for years now and used to love the app. It pulls news articles from multiple sources and lets you doom scroll as you wish. The problem though is it crashes every time I use it, and I have to re-open the app, thereby losing my spot. If that’s not enough, they have become very invasive with their ads, often completely blocking what you are reading to display an ad. More often than not, it’s difficult to close the ad and get back to what you were reading. I understand that the app is free and they use ads to pay for their resources, and if they weren’t so blatantly in your face, I wouldn’t mind. The crashes and ads have gotten so bad I’m actually using other news apps, and only sometimes come back to Flipboard. It still does have the best interface. Just wish I could actually use it!

Flipboard censors comments. Useless.

Once an awesome product now it’s just a ad widget. Just unreadable.

Way too many articles require subscriptions and an unbelievable amount of ads mess up trying to read an article.

Most articles I can barely read from adds, and poor navigation. Some articles I must open 5-10 times and scroll back to my position. Being new to Flipboard, I have NO clue how it got such great ratings.

I really like the app but I can literally watch my battery drain while I flip through the articles.

To those of you new to Flipboard let me offer the following observations. Although you can fine tune the sources you want to read and delete the ones you don’t, the default articles you will receive before fine tuning will invariably be pure left wing propaganda. On any day you will see 30 to 40 articles about Trump, for example, and without exception every one of them will be negative. On the other hand, all things leftist will be treated with dignity and praise. On Flipboard there is absolutely no pretense of being fair and impartial.

It just constantly crashes on iOS and the new it generates is old news some news a year old

I’ve used Flipboard for the better part of 10 years, but just can’t stay with it any longer. While the design is fine, the actual content and curation is poor. Too many ads designed to look like news and promotion by sites distort your feeds. And the comment function is terrible. Taken over by trolls and bots. Impossible to have any meaningful reaction to stories or topics. Once great, has become a buggy mess of trolls and ads.
