I admit to having initial skepticism with this service. One of the more positive aspects I had long grown accustomed to in daily reading of the NYT was the intangible factor of "discovery" I.e. the serendipitous discovery of an article on a topic that may have held little or no prior interest for me but after reading I became better informed and grateful to the editorial staff for choosing to include it in the paper. If I chose to be fed only those topics in which I currently have interest, my knowledge base becomes vertical without any horizontal broadening of my knowledge. That didnt sound good to me.
Flipboard seems to be able to accommodate both an increase in my vertical knowledge about topics of self-stated interest while still inserting that occasional serendipitous find.
Well done.
